Magazine Project Genre Research-Health

Delivering jargon-free language throughout food, weight loss, fitness, and lifestyle articles, Health magazine influences how people eat- healthy alternatives for unhealthy snacks-, gives them fitness tips, as well as includes ideas for how to keep up a healthy lifestyle in a hectic environment. In the September 2016 issue, Giada de Laurentiis is pictured in the center of the cover in bright, but simple attire. Around her, there is black and red font containing the topics of this months issue; topics range from fresh skin to feminine issues to eating clean and keeping a healthy body figure. Covering the top of the page, the red lettering of magazine title is bolded and in a font similar to that of Shape, Women's Health, and Men's Health; this must be the font that categorizes these magazines as health and wellness magazines. Also, there is a stand-alone yellow circle categorizing this specific issue as the food issue; this must mean that food will be the main topic with multiple articles pertaining to clean eating. Furthermore, at the top left, above the magazine title, a small quote saying, "Happy Begins Here," is placed in small, cursive font. This quote is on every cover and is here to be a reminder that in order to live a happy life, you must first begin with a healthy life.
With a constant circulation of 1,363,422, Health is able to keep a profit that is appropriate for their company. Based off of their circulation, my group estimates that if our magazine were to be published, we would be able to sell around 200,000 copies. In addition to being a publicly liked magazine, Health has been awarded with General Excellence (1994) and Best Single-Issue Article (1994). With all of their success, Health magazine has been able to reach a wide audience and produce an aesthetically pleasing magazine.
